Four high performance baseball coaches visited Yorkton last weekend to host clinics with athletes from the Parkland.

Regina Baseball & Softball Indoor Training (RBI Training) hosted two spring clinics on Saturday, May 20 at Jubilee Park.

Ben Fines is the head instructor at RBI Training. He explained that RBI Training travels around Saskatchewan and trains players year-round from the grassroots level up to the professional level. Their home base is in Regina.

鈥淲e鈥檙e doing clinics around the province right now just before the season begins, so players are better prepared for the season to come,鈥 said Fines.

Fines said they focus on the core aspects of the game at their clinics.

鈥淭hat includes the base running, infield, outfield, hitting and better throwing mechanics that are safer on arms long term,鈥 he said.

The instructors were happy with the number of kids who participated at the Yorkton clinic. The peewee, bantam and midget age groups were up first in the morning, and about 30 kids showed up for that clinic. Later in the afternoon was the mosquito age, and he anticipated about 50 kids to show up for that clinic to take advantage of the high level of coaching.

In addition to the four coaches provided by RBI Training, Fines said they appreciated the local parent volunteers who helped them out.
