Part of this year’s Yorkton Exhibition Harvest Showdown was the Heartland Livestock Ranch Rodeo.

The Ranch Rodeo consisted of teams of four competing against each other in a series of events. The teams competed at three different rodeos throughout the 2017 season - in Sturgis in June, in Sheho in July and finally in Yorkton in November.

The events the competitors took part in were barrel race, pasture doctoring, calf branding, team sorting, wild cow milking and bloomer race.

There were eight teams who competed against each other.

The teams’ times were added together from all three rodeos to give one championship team, which was announced at the Yorkton rodeo.

This year’s Ranch Rodeo winners were the Insinger Pasture. Kelvin Hawreluik, Gordie Squair, Tim Fauns and Lane Fritz racked up the best times, which resulted in them being rewarded with the championship prize - first place leather jackets.
