The Yorkton Regional High School senior boys football team came out on top of the regular season of the Moose Jaw High School Football League last week with a flawless finish.聽

The 6-0 record makes them the first Raiders team to go undefeated in the regular season. On top of that, they scored a whopping total of 322 points in those six games, and allowed only 25 points against.聽

The second place Moose Jaw Peacock Tornadoes scored 207 points overall, and allowed 112 against.

Last week saw the match up of those two teams going against each other in the final game of the regular season, held in Moose Jaw. Heading into the game, both teams were undefeated, so Raiders coaches were unsure with how it would play out.

But it didn鈥檛 take long to find out who the dominant team was 鈥 and that was Yorkton. The Raiders had a 31-0 lead by halftime. The game ended in a 48-0 shutout.

That would be the first loss in the regular season for the Tornadoes in five years.

鈥淭hey didn鈥檛 know what hit them,鈥 said Raiders head coach Roby Sharpe.聽

Sharpe said both his offensive and defensive were excellent that game, which shows in the score.聽

The undefeated season is a first for the Raiders said Sharpe. As the coach of the team for 18 years, he said it feels amazing.

鈥淚t鈥檚 been a lot of hard work 鈥 blood, sweat and tears put into this program,鈥 he said.聽

But nonetheless, Sharpe said they still have a long way to go and it鈥檚 not time to celebrate yet.

鈥淣ow we鈥檝e got to do it all over again,鈥 the coach said. 鈥淲e鈥檝e got to beat Vanier again this weekend.鈥澛

This weekend鈥檚 game is the semi-final between the Raiders and the Vanier Vikings, who they played two weeks ago and beat them 57-0.聽

But Saturday鈥檚 game might not be as easy for the Raiders.聽

鈥淭heir running back didn鈥檛 play against us, and he鈥檚 one of their better plays. He鈥檚 a weapon that we鈥檝e got to keep in mind,鈥 said Sharpe.

Leading up to Saturday鈥檚 game, the Raiders will be practicing every day to prepare.聽

鈥淣ot a lot is going to change for us. We鈥檙e going to play them the same way we did the first time,鈥 said Sharpe.聽

The winner of Saturday鈥檚 match up will move on to the league final. From there, the winner of the league will move on to compete in the provincial semi-final, in hopes of eventually winning the provincial championship.聽

The semi-final game will be held at Century Field at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 21.
