The Parkland Expos baseball team of the Saskatchewan Premier Baseball League tacked another three losses on to their record in the past week. They played one game in Melville and two in Yorkton.

Last Wednesday, the Expos faced the Regina Wolfpack in Melville and lost 15-4.聽

Runs were scored by Zach Goulden-Maddin (2), Braden Kitchen and Joseph Sliva. Kaito Farquharson and Jarod Stachowich each had an RBI.聽

Braden Kitchen took the loss on the mound.聽

On Saturday, the Expos hosted a doubleheader against the Regina Whitesox. Regina took both wins 鈥 the first 13-3 and the second 3-2.聽

In the first game, the losing pitcher for the Expos was Grady Hawkins. Jarod Stachowich scored a couple of runs while Colby Schick scored one.聽

In the second game, which was much closer for the Expos, Kaito Farquharson took the loss after pitching for 5.2 innings. He had five strikeouts.聽

Payton Latendresse and Colby Schick scored the two runs for the Expos, while Colby Ross had one RBI.聽

Between games, Expos head coach Mark Jacobs spoke to Yorkton This Week about the team鈥檚 play so far this season.聽

鈥淲e鈥檙e making progress in some areas. But we鈥檙e not where we want to be, obviously, in the standings and win-wise,鈥 said Jacobs.聽

The Expos hold a 1-15 record.聽

鈥淲e鈥檙e still lacking a few assets of the game. But we鈥檙e working hard for the most part and we鈥檝e still got a young team,鈥 he explained.聽

While the Expos have many first and second year Midget players, Jacobs said the teams from bigger cities have lots of third year guys. He said that makes it a tough league for a younger team to play in.聽

Jacobs credited first year player Colby Schick as playing well for the Expos.

鈥淗e鈥檚 played some good defense, and he鈥檚 been hitting the ball well,鈥 said Jacobs.聽

Despite the rough start, Jacobs said he鈥檚 hopeful that they鈥檒l see more success in the coming weeks as the team gains experience.聽

The Expos play again on Wednesday, June 14 at 7 p.m. in Melville. They play again in Melville on Friday evening, and return to Yorkton鈥檚 Jubilee Park on Saturday for a doubleheader against the Swift Current 57鈥檚. Games will be at 12 p.m. and 3 p.m.聽
