The Mauler game scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 17, in Regina was postponed due to road conditions.

The two teams did match up Saturday for a neutral site game in Balcarres.

Regina took a 2-0 lead to the dressing room after 20-minutes on goals by Adam Kydd and Chase Nameth, the latter on the powerplay.

After a scoreless second period, Regina would add an empty netter by Reece Henry to round out a 3-0 win.

Jordan Schmuland took the loss in the Mauler net allowing two goals on 42-shots.

Nathan Moore faced 18-shots in earning the shut-out.

鈥淭he Pat Cs do a good job,鈥 said Mauler head coach Kevin Rawlick. 鈥淲e knew it would be a tough sled against them.鈥

Rawlick said the Maulers did not have the start they wanted in Balcarres.

鈥淲e came out, I wouldn鈥檛 say flat, but we came out really nervous,鈥 said Rawlick, adding as a result the Maulers weren鈥檛 getting the things they needed to achieve in the game done.

And then Regina ended up on an extended five-on-three and momentum was fully on the Pat Canadians鈥 side.

鈥淵ou can鈥檛 give the Pat Canadians chances like that,鈥 said Rawlick.

While the shut-out loss was not the result desired, Rawlick said being part of Hockey Day in Saskatchewan activities in Balcarres was a great experience for the team.

鈥淚t was a really neat experience for the boys,鈥 said the Mauler coach, adding being a smaller community Balcarres really put on a great event with a lot of people involved.

The loss leaves Yorkton with a 14-14-1-3 record and 32-points and seventh spot in the AAA Midget League standings.

The Notre Dame Hounds top the league with 60-points, following by Prince Albert with 57, Regina 55, Tisdale 48, Swift Current 45 and the Saskatoon contacts with 34.
