The Yorkton Kinsmen Terriers woeful ways continued this past week as they dropped three straight decisions, 5-1 to the Melville Millionaires at the Farrell Agencies Arena on Thursday, 5-2 to the Notre Dame Argos in Wilcox on Saturday and 6-2 in Melville on Sunday.
Melville star forward Darcy Kayseas had a game to remember at the expense of his former team the Yorkton Kinsmen Terriers on Thursday.
Kayseas scored four of Melville's five goals, two shorthanded, to beat the team that cut him earlier this season. "He's (Darcy Kayseas) a magical player," said Kinsmen Terriers head coach Noel Budz following the game. "He has some really incredible skills. The shorthanded goals against always hurt you and he used his speed to beat us and found spots and put it in the net."
Yorkton's lone goal came in the second period when, with the score 2-0 for Melville, Tristen Mundt beat Millionaire goaltender Nicholas Houston for his third goal of the season.
Asked to break down the game from his perspective, head coach Budz did not mix words. "The reality was we didn't capitalize when we needed to on our powerplay. The first period we were set up pretty nice with 12 minutes of powerplay time but just didn't capitalize," said a frustrated Budz. "To start the game we were pretty individual. The good part of the second period was that we got rid of that individualism. Other than that the second period was pretty tough."
The Yorkton Midget Kinsmen Terriers had a chance to redeem themselves on Sunday when they travelled to Melville for their second game in four days against the Millionaires.
However revenge was not to be had as an already undermanned Terriers squad fell victim to injuries and penalties. "We led 2-0 and it looked good and then we got some injuries," mentioned Budz. "We had to shorten the bench and we just couldn't keep up the momentum. We had a penalty against one of our defencemen that was for 10 minutes which put us down to four defencemen and we just ran out of gas from there."
The injuries Budz mentioned were to Tristen Mundt and Kholton Shewchuk, while Kylan Shea also missed Sunday's game with a lower body injury. Luckily for the Kinsmen Terriers, however, two of the three injuries appear to be minor and Budz hopes to have a couple of the wounded warriors back in the line-up as early as next game. "I'm hoping two of our injured players will be back soon. We thought originally one might have broken his collar bone but he texted me tonight to tell me he's fine and that it's just a little bit of pain and that he needs a couple of days off."

The Yorkton Midget Kinsmen Terriers (4-18-3) have an opportunity to even the season series at two with their Highway 10 rivals on Thursday night when they host the Millionaires (5-16-3) at the Farrell Agencies Arena. Game time is set for 7:45p.m.
