Three Sacred Heart High School curlers, Tanner Kinaschuk (skip), Amy Prybylski (third), Allison Kruger (second), and St. Michael's Reese Kinaschuk (lead), recently competed at the Provincial Open Juvenile Competition in Carlyle.
The team had previously qualified for Provincials at the Regional Competition in Wynyard the previous weekend the team competed in one of two pools.
While the curlers didn't exactly find success, they were 0-3, they were very much in the competition, losing their first game on a last shot draw that went a foot long.
In the second game they took the Elwood team from the Esterhazy Curling Club to an extra end.
In the third game, when one down coming home with hammer, they had two covered rocks on the back of the button, when the Regina skip made a raise to the button that the Yorkton team was unable to remove. Team Williamson from Regina went on to win the bonspiel.
Following the Provincial bonspiel coach Brian Kruger said, "It was a spiel of inches and a weekend were we could have been 3-0 instead of 0-3.
"It was a good learning experience for the curlers competing at a provincial level with time clocks, officials and opening ceremonies. Congratulations to our curlers on a job very well done."
