The Sacred Heart High School Lady Saints volleyball team traveled to Melfort last weekend to take part in an eight team tournament.
Sacred Heart first played Quill Lake winning 25-10 and 25-20. In the second round robin game the Lady Saints played Melfort, losing the first set 20-25 but winning the second set 25-13.
In the final match, the Saints faced North Battleford, winning 25-17 but dropping the second set 13-25. With a record of four wins and two losses, Sacred Heart finished second in their pool.
On Saturday morning, the Lady Saints faced Nipawin in the quarter-finals. Sacred Heart played strong in the first set, but lost 17-25. In the second set, they could not rebound and lost 13-25. The loss moved the Lady Saints to the B-side where they again faced Quill Lake. The Lady Saints dominated the match winning 25-20 and 25-19 to advance to the B-side final.Â
There, the Lady Saints faced North Battleford for the second time of the tournament. In the first set, Sacred Heart won easily 25-14. In the second set, they struggled losing 14-25 to force a third set. The first eight points were a see saw battle between the two strong teams, but the Lady Saints took control of the match to win 15-10 and claim the S-side championship.
This weekend, the Lady Saints travel to Langenburg for the final tournament of the season before playoffs begin.
