The Lady Saints were set to travel to Estevan for Conference playoffs on Friday, February 28.

The Lady Saints were set to travel to Estevan for Conference playoffs on Friday, February 28.

Unfortunately, due to the extreme cold, the Lady Saints instead played their first game in Melville as the Cobras were the fourth ranked team against the fifth ranked Saints.

The cold weather couldn't stop the fire on the court however, as the two teams played yet another exciting and intense game in which the lead was changed several times between the two clubs.

In the first quarter both teams came out with presses. The hometown Cobras's press proved more effective in the first quarter as they took a 14-13 lead after one frame.

The Saints battled back in the second quarter, outscoring the host Cobras 11-9 in the second half to carry a 24-23 lead into the half.

Melville opened up a nine-point lead early in the third quarter but the Saints put their hardhats on and went to work to close the gap to just two at 44-42 for Melville going into the final quarter.

The Saints carried their momentum into the fourth quarter to take the lead. Some clutch free-throw shooting by the Saints late in the game clinched the game for the Saints as Sacred Heart left Melville with a hard fought 62-56 victory.

Swiss sharpshooter Corin Heim lead the way with 22 points followed by Morgan Shymanski with 17.

With the victory the Lady Saints were supposed to face the Notre Dame Hounds on Saturday morning. Once again the extreme cold got in the way as the Saints were unable to make the trip to Wilcox resulting in a walkover win for the Hounds.

With the forfeit loss the Saints finished fourth in conferences behind third place Estevan, second place Weyburn and first place Notre Dame. All four teams will move on to Regional playoffs next weekend however the Regional playoff sites are yet to be determined.
