The Sacred Heart Saints girls’ soccer team played in the Prince Albert Carlton Classic this past weekend, where they placed third out of a total of eight teams.
In the first game the Saints defeated Lloydminster Holy Rosary 3-1. Kendra Varjassy scored all three goals for Sacred Heart, while Jordin Holinaty and Brooke Vranai picked up an assist each. Breanne Gelowitz picked up the victory in goal.
The ‘A’ side semi-final was against Prince Albert St. Marys. The Saints came up short in a 9-0 loss.
This placed the Lady Saints in the third place game against Weyburn.
This was a back and forth game with the Saints scoring a late goal by Justine Zarowny to win 4-3.
Kendra Varjassy had two goals and two assists with Justine Zarowny adding two goals and Jordin Holinaty adding an assist.
Breanne Gelowitz earned the victory in goal.
Next tournament action for the Lady Saints is October 23/24 in Saskatoon for the Regional Playoffs.
