Lady Saints host 4A volleyball provincials

Last weekend, the Sacred Heart High School senior girls volleyball team hosted the 4A high school provincial championships at Sacred Heart and St. Michael’s school in Yorkton.

Last weekend, the Sacred Heart High School senior girls volleyball team hosted the 4A high school provincial championships at Sacred Heart and St. Michael’s school in Yorkton. 

Ten teams from across the province gathered to take part in the tournament. 

In the end, Caronport came out on top after the gold medal match against Oxbow. Caronport took both the first and second set 25-20. 

Kipling won the bronze medal, beating Unity in both sets of the medal match up. The first set score was a close 26-24 decision, and the second was 25-15. 

The Sacred Heart Saints lost out in the quarterfinal to the would-be champions Caronport. Caronport won both sets, 25-16 and then 25-12. 

Prior to the quarterfinal game, the Saints picked up win against Maidstone, winning two of three sets. The first was 25-14, the second was 25-18 (Maidstone) and the third was 15-9. 

They also faced Kipling on Saturday in the pool play, but fell after three sets. Those were 25-14, 25-23 (Sacred Heart) and 15-3. 

On Friday, the Saints played against Unity and Oxbow, but fell in both matches.
