On Friday night the Lady Saints travelled to Melville to play Foam Lake in their first game of the Cobras' home tournament. This was a fast paced game that saw the Saints come out strong and take a 29-12 first quarter lead.
The Panthers tightened the score in the second quarter and were trailing 39-30 at the half.
Going into the fourth quarter the Saints were leading 54-48 and fought hard to finish with a 73-71 victory.
Morgan Shymanski had 30 points and Corin Heim 26.
Sacred's first game Saturday morning saw the Saints play the Norquay Nikes.
The game started slow for both teams but eventually the Saints took the lead and never looked back getting a 51-25 victory.
The Saints bench players had a good showing with lots of players getting on the board. Heim had 16 points while Shymanski scored 12 and Hanna Hansen had 10.
The victory over Norquay put the Saints into the final against Wynyard who was also 2-0 in their pool play.
This was another very exciting and entertaining game as Wynyard took an early lead with the Saints fighting back late in the quarter to take a 19-16 lead into the second quarter.
Wynyard took the lead back at half with a 35-33 score.
Both teams ran into foul trouble in the second half as Wynyard slowly built on their lead due to some strong 3 point shooting. In the end the Saints lost 68-53. Leading the way offensively for the Saints in the final game was Taneisha Roussin and Heim scoring 18 points each.
The Lady Saints are off to Porcupine Plain this coming weekend for a tournament.
The YRHS Lady Raiders were also in action in Melville.
The Raiders finished with a record of 1-2, losing to both Melville and Wynyard before defeating the Norquay Nikes in the fifth place game.
The Lady Raiders will be in Lumsden this weekend for a tournament.
