Wade Klippenstein joined the Western Hockey League's Brandon Wheat Kings this past week as their director of scouting.
"I'm very excited to join the Wheat Kings," says Klippenstein, who is a former Yorkton Terriers head coach, in the release. "Looking forward to meeting the staff, the players and after playing all of minor hockey in the province, it's both an honour and a privilege to become a member of Manitoba's WHL team."
Klippenstein replaces long-time director of scouting Al Macpherson, who stepped down earlier this summer.
"Wade has a real diverse background and brings a wealth of experience to our organization," says Brandon general manager and head coach Kelly McCrimmon. "After a thorough process, I am confident he will do a great job working with our existing scouting staff leading our organization forward."
Klippenstein tendered his resignation from the Prince George Cougars in April after serving six years in a variety of positions in management and coaching. He served as the assistant general manager and director of player personnel for the past four seasons. His reason for suddenly leaving the club hasn't be released.
Before joining the Cougars, Klippenstein spent time in the hockey operations of the Prince Albert Raiders, Saskatoon Blades, Moose Jaw Warriors, CCHA's University of Alaska Fairbanks and SJHL's Terriers.
