Kinsmen Terriers pick up a pair of wins

Two home games meant two wins for the Yorkton Kinsmen Terriers Midget ‘AA’ team over the weekend. The action kicked off on Saturday evening at the Farrell Agencies Arena, when the Kinsmen Terriers hosted the Regina Capitals.

Two home games meant two wins for the Yorkton Kinsmen Terriers Midget ‘AA’ team over the weekend. 

The action kicked off on Saturday evening at the Farrell Agencies Arena, when the Kinsmen Terriers hosted the Regina Capitals. It ended up being a big 6-0 win for Yorkton. 

Goals came from Colby Vranai (3), Michael Coleridge, Carson Haberman and Anthony Roebuck. Spencer Welke recorded the win in goal for the Kinsmen Terriers. 

Sunday’s game wouldn’t be quite as easy for the Kinsmen Terriers. They faced off at the Kinsmen Arena against the Swift Current Abbey Resources Broncos. The final score was 2-1. 

The first period saw two goals for Yorkton. Massen Ziola got the Kinsmen Terriers on the board towards the end of the period, and Josh Peppler would get their second just two minutes later. 

In the second period, Swift Current got their one and only goal. 

The third period saw no scoring action. 

It was another win added to goalie Spencer Welke’s record, saving 28 of 29 shots. Welke is sixth in the league in goalie stats so far this season, with a 2.84 goals against average. Swift Current’s goalie, Jacob Herman, is in first place. 

Leading the Kinsmen Terriers in scoring this season is Josh Peppler with 15 points from 12 goals and 3 assists. Right behind him is Massen Ziola who has 15 points from 8 goals and 7 assists. 

The Yorkton Kinsmen Terriers are in fifth place in their league with a 7-3-2-2 record. 

They’ll hit the road this weekend for a set of away games. On Saturday they’ll face off against the Estevan Apex Bruins, and then on Sunday they’ll meet with the Notre Dame Hounds.

They’ll play in Yorkton again on Friday, Dec. 8 at the F.A.A. against the Notre Dame Argos at 8 p.m.
