Kinaschuk leads super league curling

The Rick Kinaschuk curling team, sponsored by W.F. Schneider and Son of Benito, extended itsr winning streak in the Duck Mountain Super League to four games when the group defeated Richard Jordens in Norquay  December 5.

Hometown favourite Ken Newell, sponsored by Challoner Farm of Norquay, went the distance with Don Bowes of Madge Lake by scoring two points and forcing an extra end.

Bowes, backed by Cottenie and Gardner Inc., made his final shot on end nine for the win.

The late draw in Norquay, underway by 9:15 p.m., attracted about 20 curling fans who watched Bob Kolodziejski of Canora take on the Fred Perepiolkin team, skipped by Glen Becenko of Kamsack. Kolodziejski, sponsored by Pioneer Hi-Bred Seeds, improved his record to three wins and one loss with the victory.

The final December 5 curling game saw Brad Knutson of Norquay defeat Chris Leis of Kamsack. Knutson, now with three wins under his belt, is sponsored by Str8up Livestock. Leis, winless after four contests, is sponsored by Myshrooms.

Duck Mountain Super League curling was to have moved to Canora December 12 where Richard Jordens was to have been pitted against Ken Newell, Chris Leis was to have played host team Bob Kolodziejski, Fred Perepiolkin was to be up against undefeated Rick Kinaschuk and Don Bowes was to have faced Brad Knutson.

Benito will host Draw 6 of the Duck Mountain Super League curling season on December 19. All four games are set to begin at 7:30 p.m.
