The SJHL Terriers and Hyundai of Yorkton got together over the weekend to promote hockey throughout the minor ranks.
In between their meeting with the Kindersley Klippers at the Farrell Agencies Arena, the Terriers sent a handful of players to extra ice time in helping local kids learn the game in a relaxed environment.
Ron Kaban, of Yorkton Hyundai said it's the first time the car dealership has teamed up with the Terriers to do something like this for the kids.
He added that it probably won't be the last time.
"This is the first time ever doing this. I think we'll branch out in the future."
The skills session with the Terriers was free to participate and 41 young hockey players took part in everything from passing drills to shooting drills.
Afterwards, they posed for a picture with their Junior hockey heroes.
"Not only did the kids enjoy it but the Terriers enjoyed it too," said Kaban. "The Terriers did an excellent job."
He said they are going to try and do it here again next year.
He told the paper most of the kids were from the city but one even made the trip down from Canora. The skills session lasted about two hours.
