The Yorkton Midget Kinsmen Terriers became the fifth victim of the Swift Current K-Motel Hurricanes winning streak this past Saturday, dropping a 6-2 decision to the third place club at the Farrell Agencies Arena in Yorkton.
The Terriers got on the board first when Jonah Sutter found the back of the net for his third goal of the season with 9:36 remaining in the period when his shot beat Swift Current goaltender Logan Tisdale blocker side to give the home side a 1-0 lead.
Yorkton came close to doubling their lead moments later but the shot from the blueline hit the crossbar and went out of play.
Despite being outplayed in the first the Hurricanes managed to even the score before the end of the period. Connor Kennedy slipped the puck past Terrier goaltender Rylan Palchewich to make it 1-1 after 20 minutes.
The Kennedy goal near the end of the first period seemed to spark the Swift Current offence. The visitors came out for the second period like a house on fire, scoring three straight goals before Yorkton once again found the net. Kinsmen Terrier leading scorer Justin Poirier took advantage of the extra space with a Hurricane player in the penalty box and made the visitors pay when his shot eluded Tisdale with 19 seconds remaining in the second frame to cut the Hurricane lead to just two.
Unfortunately for the Kinsmen Terriers that was where their offence would end while the Hurricanes offence continued to put pucks in the net, scoring twice in the third en route to a 6-2 victory over the Yorkton Kinsmen Terriers.
Despite the lopsided loss, Kinsmen Terriers head coach Noel Budz said he is still proud of the way his team battled against a team that is much higher in the standings. "The one thing I will never question with these guys though is their effort. Our boys work hard and I'm proud of them for bringing it all every night we play."
Budz also acknowledged the fact that his team just didn't get the bounces that the Hurricanes got. "We hit a crossbar in the first and a post in the second," said Budz, continuing, "If those two pucks went in it would have been a little more motivation and momentum for us. They were great shots but it's a game of inches and tonight they won the battle of inches."

The Yorkton Midget Kinsmen Terriers next home action will be tomorrow when they host the rival Melville Millionaires at the Farrell Agencies Arena. Puck drop is set for 8:00p.m.
