The Yorkton Terriers head to the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League break after a pair of weekend losses.
The losses, one in overtime, leave the Terriers with a 7-23-2-1 record and 17 points, which lifts them out of the league basement, now one point up on La Ronge with 16-points.
In their own Viterra Division Yorkton sits fourth, nine-points back of Melville. Estevan leads the Division with 43-points, two up on second place Weyburn.
The Terriers had a good start in Wilcox Friday with Slater Strong and Chantz Petruic giving the visitors a 2-0 lead, a lead cut in half by a Kaleb Bell goal for the Hounds.
The Hounds rebounded in the second as Riley Perka and Zack Kosteniuk gave the Hounds a 3-2 lead with the only markers of the frame.
Petruic, with his second of the night midway through the third knotted the score 3-3, and that would hold through regulation time.
Five-minutes of four-on-four overtime wouldn’t settle the contest, sending the teams to a shoot-out.
Marshall Wilton of the Hounds would score the only goal among six shooters to win the game 4-3 for Notre Dame.
Jack Ryan earned the win in the Notre Dame net facing 27 shots.
Joe Marcouiller suffered the loss for Yorkton facing 44-shots.
The teams met again Saturday at the Farrell Agencies Arena in Yorkton.
The Terriers again got off to a quick start with Mason Mullaney scoring at 2:54 and Dino Antoniadis at 3:05 for an early 2-0 lead. Both goals came while the Terriers were short-handed.
Chance Longjohn would cut the lead in half for Notre Dame with a marker at 9:29 of the opening frame.
It took Zack Kosteniuk only 2:49 into the second period to knot the score 2-2.
Antoniadis re-established a Terrier lead at 4:50, but Chaz Smedsrud scored on the powerplay for the Hounds at 7:37 to tie the score 3-3.
The third period would not be friendly to the host Terriers.
Eleven-seconds into the final frame Jack Flaman scored what would become the game-winner for Notre Dame.
Smedsrud would add a Hound goal at 9:25, with Longjohn adding another a 15:45, this one a powerplay marker.
Curtis Wiebe would add one more for the Hounds, a short-handed marker at 18:36 to round out a 7-3 win.
Jacob Standen would record the win in the net for Notre Dame facing 31-shots.
Joe Marcouiller took the loss as the Terrier netminder, facing 46-shots.
