The York City Senior Badminton tournament co-hosted by Sacred Heart and Yorkton Regional was held on April 12th.
Coaches from both schools were very pleased with the competition of the players at the tournament.
There was some great action and close matches.
Schools in attendance were SHHS, YRHS, Preeceville, Kamsack, Esterhazy, Keeseekoose, Melville and Sturgis. Sacred Heart is coached by Jeanne Fetsch, Jim Grela. YRHS is coached by Shawn Redmond.
Results
Girls singles: Gold medal went to Danielle Burym (Sturgis). Silver medal went to Rhianna Olson (Sturgis).
Boys singles: Gold medal went to Brennan Watson (Keeseekoose). Silver medal went to Kade Johnson (SHHS).
Girls doubles: Gold medal went to Darrian Desjarlais and Daryn Nevil (Melville).
Silver medal went to Britanny Kasahuba and Kelsey Dashchuck (Preeceville).
Boys doubles: Gold medal went to Ben Fetsch and Austin Thomas (SHHS). Silver medal went to Dakota Berezowski and Carson Miller (YRHS).
Mixed doubles: Gold medal Kelly Bazuik and Steven Kardynal (Sturgis).
Silver medal Olivia Tomcala and Luke Walters (YRHS).
City Playoffs (SHHS)
Sacred Heart High School results from city playoffs hosted by YRHS on April 18th.
The senior Badminton team did well at city playoffs.
There were some great battles and close matches throughout.  Finishing third were Nathan Pidperyhora and Nathan Cochrane in boys doubles, Allison Berge and Sarah Sutter in girls doubles, Louis Shin in boys singles, Jem De Jesus in girls singles, and Sarah Martynuik and Kyle Schmidt in mixed doubles.
Finishing second was Janeen Pellatt in girls singles.
Finishing first were Ben Fetsch and Austin Thomas in boys doubles, Lexi Guy and JJ Chogata in girls doubles, Kade Johnson in boys singles and Nicole Redl and Jonah Sutter in mixed doubles.
Those finishing in the top two now move on to districts on Tuesday April 26th co-hosted by SHHS and YRHS.
