It was a beautiful night with good weather and lots of people and fans for the second annual SADD ball games event on June 2.

The Kamsack Comprehensive Institute (KCI) Students Against Drinking and Driving (SADD) group attracted four teams of ball players, said Wendy Shabatoski, who with Lee Bowes are the SADD advisors.

Three of the teams were comprised of KCI students with community members, while the fourth team was the Royals slo-pitch team and each team played two games.

Members of the staff of Duck Mountain Ambulance Care and Kamsack fire fighters cooked burgers and the Royals made a donation of $200 to SADD, she said.

The event had begun with the SADD group releasing 52 helium-filled red balloons into the sky in order to represent the 52 victims of drinking and driving in Saskatchewan in one year.

Money earned from the event will go towards completing the group’s sign project and for future SADD events.
