Expos drop to dismal 1-12 record

The Parkland Expos spent another weekend on the road and battled through a few tough games in Saskatchewan Premier Baseball League action. On Saturday, the midget AAA team faced the Muenster Red Sox in a double header. The Expos fell in both games.

The Parkland Expos spent another weekend on the road and battled through a few tough games in Saskatchewan Premier Baseball League action.

On Saturday, the midget AAA team faced the Muenster Red Sox in a double header. The Expos fell in both games. The first was 11-2, the second was 8-0. Colby Schick had one hit for the Expos, while Braden Kitchen had one hit and one run.

Lexi Fenske took the loss on the mound. She gave up four earned runs in 1.1 innings.
In the following game, Jordan Evans led the way with two hits in three at bats.

Kitchen was the starting pitcher and took the loss. He pitched five innings and gave up five runs, but only two were earned. He also had two strikeouts.

On Sunday they continued their road trip into Saskatoon where they faced the Diamondbacks in two games.

In the first match up, the Diamondbacks won 11-1. Gregor Farquharson had their only run.

Kaito Farquharson pitched three innings. He took the loss giving up nine runs, seven earned, and seven walks, while adding three strikeouts.

The second game of the day was also won by Saskatoon, 10-5.

Payton Latendresse had two runs and a hit in three at bats. Jordan Evans had two hits and an RBI in four at bats. Montana Johnson had one hit, two RBIs and a run. Braden Kitchen also had a hit, RBI, run and a walk. Kitchen, Johnson and Latendresse each had a stolen base.

Gregor Farquharson pitched for all six innings and was charged with the loss. He gave up 15 hits and 10 runs with eight being earned. He also walked one batter and had six strikeouts.

These losses push the Expos’ record to 1-12. They sit in tenth place in the league of 11 teams. Currently leading the league is the Muenster Red Sox, who are undefeated (8-0).

Kaito Farquharson leads the expos in batting averages, his being .359. He has 14 hits from 39 at bats.

Farquharson has also been named as an AP player for the Yorkton Cardinals of the Western Major Baseball League.  

The Parkland Expos play again on Wednesday, June 7 against Regina Wolfpack in Melville at 7 p.m. They return to Yorkton on Saturday, June 10 at Jubilee Park for a double header against the Regina White sox. Games are at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.
