ECDAA senior curling championship results

On the weekend of February 5-6 the Yorkton Curling Club hosted the East Central District Athletic Association (ECDAA) senior curling championship.

On the weekend of February 5-6 the Yorkton Curling Club hosted the East Central District Athletic Association (ECDAA) senior curling championship.

Teams from Yorkton Regional and Sacred Heart were joined by teams from Churchbridge, Melville, Sturgis, Esterhazy, Norquay, Invermay, Canora and Kamsack to see who would represent the ECDAA in future regional and provincial competition.

Results

Team Sacred Heart - made up of Reese Kinaschuk (skip), Cordel Struble (third), Auston Roberts (second), Eliah Stephaniuk (lead) and Kelton Chyz (alternate) - took the boys’ competition and will represent the ECDAA as the gold medal team while Team YRHS consisting of Jon Nagy (skip), Derek Campbell (third), Matthew Linsley (second), Braden Kitchen (lead) and (Dylan Novak (alternate) took the silver medal and will also represent the ECDAA at regionals.

On the female side of things it was a pair of YRHS rinks that went through and will represent the ECDAA at the regional championship.

Team YRHS 1 of Kellie Onda-Inglis (skip), Sean Thompson (third), Mikaila Ortynsky (second), Jillian Just (lead) and Emma Just (alternate) won the ‘A’ qualifier and will be the ECDAA’s first representative while Team YRHS 2 made up of Tessa Datema (skip), Meagan Dietrich (third), Mackenzie Bjornerud (second) and Kayley Harvey (lead) won the ‘B’ qualifier and will be the second ECDAA representative in the girls’ regional event.

In the mixed teams competition it was Churchbridge (skip Brayden Fraser, third Jadel Goebel, second Marcus Gibler, lead Mexi Morash and alternate Amber Debnam) that won the ‘A’ qualifier while Kamsack (skip Jayden Chutskoff, third Kaylie Bowes, second Kyle Morgan, lead Cassidy Aker and alternates Henry Thomas and Koryssa Woloshyn) took the ‘B’ qualifier.
