Early medals for Parkland Valley at games

The Saskatchewan Winter Games in North Battleford opened on Sunday, and the Parkland Valley team has already received a pair of medals.

Yorkton’s Kari Adane won gold in the 48kg women’s weightlifting event. The 13 year old St. Michael’s student has been in the sport for three years.

Torie Patterson from Esterhazy took bronze in the biathlon sprint with a time of 0:23.42. Silver in the event went to Ashtyn Ritco of the Prairie Central team with a time of 0:22.50, and gold went to Sarah Bargen of Medsted, part of the Rivers West team, who took gold with a time of 0:18.51.

Over 2,000 athletes, coaches and mission staff are in North Battleford for the Winter Games, representing the best athletes in the province. For many athletes, this will be a stepping stone in their careers.
