District 12 4-H clubs held their 4-H curling bonspiel this past weekend in Yorkton.
Eight teams - five junior and three senior – took part in the Sunday competition with the hopes of winning the ‘A’ side competition and advancing to the 2016 Regional curling competition in Milestone from January 23-24.
Four different 4-H clubs were represented at the bonspiel with the host Rhein 4-H Activities Club icing two junior teams, Springside 4H Beef Club putting out two senior and one junior team, the Wooly Wonders Multiple 4-H Club iced one team in each category, while the Yorkton Creators 4-H Club had one junior team. Winning teams in the senior category were: ‘A’ side Team Dale Weinbender (Springside) and ‘B’ side Team Matthew Zalys-Smeretsky (Springside). The winning teams from the junior competition were: ‘A’ side Team Hunter Chesney (Wooly Wonders) and ‘B’ side Team Keanen Gnyp (Rhein 4-H). The metals were sponsored by Harvest Meats and the trophy plates by Park’s Jewellery both of Yorkton. There was also a raffle held during the day with each 4-H club including the Otthon Outlaws 4-H club donating a raffle prize. Proceeds went to District 12 to help fund this event.
