Curling resumes in Duck Mountain Super League

Eight Duck Mountain Super League teams from Kamsack, Canora, Madge Lake, Norquay and Benito, resumed curling at the Broda Sportplex in Kamsack November 14.

The first draw saw Richard Jordens defeat Brad Knutson of Norquay. Bob Kolodjeiski of Canora, sponsored by Pioneer Hi-Bred Seeds, slid by Ken Newell of Norquay. Benito’s Rick Kinaschuk prevailed over Don Bowes of Madge Lake. And defending champion Fred Perepiolkin of Kamsack pummelled newcomer Chris Leis.

This is the 31st season of men’s curling in the Duck Mountain Super League and the third consecutive season in recent memory.

The second draw of the 2017-2018 season was played in Kamsack November 21.

Bob Kolodjeiski had a brief but victorious game with the Don Bowes rink, skipped that night by Tom Jordens.  Brad Knutson, backed by Str8up Livestock, and Ken Newell, backed by Challoner Farm of Norquay, took seven ends to declare Knutson the winner. Fred Perepiolkin remained undefeated by defeating Richard Jordens. Rick Kinaschuk won in a close match over Chris Leis of Kamsack who is sponsored by Myshrooms.

The third draw, set for November 28 in Kamsack, was to have had Richard Jordens face Chris Leis, Fred Perepiolkin against Don Bowes, Rick Kinaschuk was to have played Ken Newell and Bob Kolodjeiski was to exchange shots with Brad Knutson.

The Duck Mountain Super League’s travelling bonspiel moves to Norquay December 5 with draws at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. The action shifts to Canora December 12 and arrives in Benito December 19.

Curling fans are welcome to attend all draws. Admission is free.
