The game featured two of the best teams from the province in a close match, with Regina finally pulling away late in the game.

For the Yorkton squad, the tournament opened with a win against Foam Lake in front of the school, something Kyle says was especially meaningful after the time and effort they put in to their season this year.Ìý

The team went up against North Battleford in the semi-final, and it was again a close game, within seven points until the half, before North Battleford pulled away. The third place game against Estevan was another close one, until a last minute basket allowed the opposing squad to pull away.

Kyle says that the team has proven that they can play 40 minutes of tough basketball, and now has to play 40

Going into their next action in the Moose Jaw Peacocks tournament this weekend, the key for the team is to reduce turnovers and protect the ball, Kyle reveals.Ìý

Two players stood out on the team over the weekend, Amber Tilcox and Marley Potzus. The Grade 12 students both had awesome weekends in the home tournament, Kyle said. Tilcox had a double double – when one player records 10 or more in two of the following categories: points, rebounds, Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìýassists, steals, or blocks – in all three games in the weekend. Potzus was a huge factor in the team’s ability to handle pressure, Kyle said, and her ball handling skills are fantastic.
