On April ninth Sacred Heart hosted the city playoffs for the senior Badminton teams.

Coaches Shawn Redmond from the Regional and Jeanne Fetsch and Jim Grela from Sacred Heart thought there was some great action with many close matches.

In boys' singles YRHS's Jordon Chrobot came in first when he defeated Sacred Heart's Justin Poirier.

In boys' doubles it was all YRHS with Eddie Schramm and Graham Campbell placing first and Nick Payne and Tyson Bloack placing second.

The YRHS won their third gold medal of the playoffs in ladies doubles when Breanna Melnechenko and Edie Schramm knocked off Sacred Heart' Kristen Jonassen and Allison Kruger in the ladies doubles final.

Sacred Heart didn't go down quietly however as Morgan Shymanski placed first and Rita Fetsch finished second in ladies singles.

Only two points separated second and third in mixed doubles, however Sacred's Justin Guy and Rianna Skikewich took the gold medal with a first place finish while fellow Saints tandem Ben Fetsch and Lauren Maier took home the silver.

All these players now advance to Districts hosted by Sacred Heart on Wednesday, April 16.

On April third the SHHS senior badminton team travelled to Canora and under the excellent coaching of Mrs. Jonassen the team had strong results.

Taking a gold in Mixed Doubles was Riana Skikewich and Justin Guy. A second gold was won by Morgan
Shymanski in girls singles while a third gold medal was brought home by Kristen Jonassen and Chelsey Yesnik in girls doubles. Fanatastic job team!
