Canora Minor Hockey Day started with a faceoff between the Canora Cobras Atom white and black teams on January 27.

Canora was treated to hockey from four different age groups during Canora Minor Hockey Day on January 27.

Kelly Beblow, Canora minor hockey president, said it was a “great day of hockey” and everyone he spoke with at the rink with seemed to thoroughly enjoy it.

The local teams in action included the Canora Cobras Novice, the Canora Cobras Atom white and black teams, and the Canora Cobras Peewee team. The day concluded with a game involving the Preeceville Pats Bantam team, which has a number of players who started their hockey careers in Canora.

The day’s schedule originally included an I.P. game but it had to be cancelled due to poor road conditions for the visiting team, said Beblow.

Considering the cold weather and the heavy snow the night before, Beblow said audience attendance for the day was excellent, peaking at approximately 200 for the bantam game in the evening.
