Canora hosts cadet zone curling playdowns

            The Canora air cadet squadron hosted zone curling playdowns on February 10 to determine the zone representative for the upcoming provincial competition.

            The host Canora rink included Sgt. Joanne Babb, skip; FCpl. Gracie Paul, third; Cpl. Tessa Spokes, second, and Sgt. Juan Mesa Castenada, lead.

            The visiting squads in the competition were from Kamsack, Preeceville, Yorkton and Foam Lake.

            Each team played the other four teams once in the round robin format. At the end of the day, the rink from Preeceville had a perfect 4-0 record and won the right to advance to the air cadet curling provincials coming up in Nipawin on March 3-4. Provincials will include teams representing six zones across the province.

            The Preeceville rink consists of: WO2. Braden Mclean, skip; F/Sgt. Zanthany Olson, third; FCpl. Eric Prestie, second; Cpl. Michael Carlson, lead, and Sgt. Benjamin Larson, spare.

            The team from Foam Lake placed second, while the Yorkton rink came in third.
