The Yorkton bantam UCT 'AA' Terriers extended their winning streak to four straight on the weekend with a pair of wins.
In their first game of the week on Friday, the Terriers knocked off the Weyburn Crescent Point Wings 4-2 on the road.
"We played really well against Weyburn," said Terriers head coach Graham Garrett. "Our offense generated a lot of good chances and our defence played well, too. The score might have been more in our favour, but their goalie (Morgan Bogdan) played really well."
Following Terriers forward Carson Welke scoring the lone goal of the opening frame, his twin brother McKenzie Welke potted two in the second period to give Yorkton a 3-1 lead.
Yorkton's Reid Prepeluk and Weyburn's Brayden Duke exchanged goals in the third period to close out the game.
The Terriers took part in a scoring frenzy at home in their second game in Kinsmen Arena against the Regina Monarchs on Sunday as fourteen goals were scored in the 9-5 win.
McKenzie and Carson Welke led the Terriers' offense with a hat trick and a goal and three assists respectively. It has come to the point where 'this is not a recording' should go ahead of putting the Welke twins led the Terriers to victory.
Carson Miller and Keenan Taphorn, who scored one goal and two assists apiece, also had strong performances.
"Our offense has a lot of depth," said Garrett. "We have three lines that score for us and obviously some very talented players who seem to score almost every game."
Austin Hilderman guarded the Terriers' net for both victories.
Albeit with a 6-2-0 record the Terriers bench boss doesn't have much to complain about, he feels his club's power play needs a little work. They only scored one goal on 10 attempts against Weyburn and were blanked on seven tries against Regina.
"You want the numbers to look better," said Garrett. "It would be nice to score some more power play goals, but we have been generating a lot of good chances and other teams' goalies have been doing well in net. So I think our power play has been doing okay."
The Terriers don't play another regular-season game until Nov. 21 when they host the Regina Pat Blues because of various reasons. The Harvest Showdown made it tough to book ice time and they have two weekend tournaments coming up, the first this weekend in Regina and the second in Calgary on the third weekend of November.
