Fifty-two participants from ages five to 73 took part in the five kilometre run/walk/bike event at the Canada 150 Outdoor Family Festival on July 22, said Leslie Gulka, organizer.
           Shyla Yannoulis was the only biker who completed the course, the other participants all ran or walked.
           The three age categories for the event were: under 18, under 49 and under 99, said Gulka.
           The fourth category was for teams and families. There were three entries in this category: Young & Breathless, Team Korol and Team Mykytyshyn. Young & Breathless was the winning team, thanks in large part to Durban Hleboff, who completed the five kilometre run in 19 minutes, the fastest time of the entire event.
           In the under 18 category, Hudson Bailey finished first in the 5K run, with Taye Shukin second and Jill Gulka third. Five-year-old Reid Kitchen was the only walker in this category to complete the entire five kilometres. Olivia Tratch and Kaelyn Shukin each walked 2.5 kilometres.
           Ben Kwang won the 5K run in the under 49 category. Leslie Gulka finished second and Leona Kitchen placed third. Simone Homeniuk captured first place in the under 49 walk, while Andrea Bartetski came in second and Robin Heshka placed third.
           Arlene Lozinski was the only runner in the under 99 category. Marilyn Schigol placed first in the 5K walk. Ramey Campbell finished second and Anita Milavanov came in third.  Â
           The event was organized by the ‘Couch to 5K’ walk/run group, said Gulka. Proceeds were donated to the Canora Composite School SRC for extra curricular programs.     Â
