The Yorkton Aquabatix Synchronized Swim team held their year end water show Sunday afternoon in front of a huge crowd at the Gallagher Centre swimming pool.

The annual event marked the end of the synchronized swim season in Yorkton, said Stacey Neufeld, Yorkton club president. There were 35 swimmers in attendance performing a large variety of tricks for spectators.

Elements of the show included: masters (retired synchronized swimmers), as competition and recreation.

Age groups on display were 9-and-under, 10-and-under, 12-and-under, and 13-15.

Neufeld said most of what was on display was rehearsed at least a few times going into Sunday's finale presentation, most of which received applauded after each performance.

Tasks the swimmers performed included: platform lift, swirls, backlights, back tucks, crane and front walkovers.

Among the competitors was Mikayla Walker, who has been involved in synchronized swimming almost as long as she's been alive.

Her eight years of performance showed through Sunday as she and 37 others performed at the Yorkton pool.

"The combo at the end" was the best, she said following the final performance on the afternoon.

She said she's been involved for eight years now and intends on keeping going as long as she can.

Her favourite parts of the season are "the highlights (including Sunday's event) and the competitions."

I do it for fun," she said. "I was nervous for the figures, they were so long," she said.
