600 kids take part in annual soccer event

On Saturday, Yorkton United Football Club held its annual community soccer event at the Logan Green soccer fields. The event saw approximately 600 kids take part in fun and friendly games. Mike Jakubiec is the technical director of Yorkton United FC.

Organizers estimated more than 1600 people walked through the gates on Saturday, from players, to their families and spectators.

On Saturday, Yorkton United Football Club held its annual community soccer event at the Logan Green soccer fields.聽

The event saw approximately 600 kids take part in fun and friendly games.

Mike Jakubiec is the technical director of Yorkton United FC. He explained that this year, they had kids not only from Yorkton, but outsiders as well.

鈥淭his year, we invited in some outside clubs from Canora, Moose Jaw, Regina and Humboldt,鈥 he said. 鈥淭hey came in for some different competition. It鈥檚 free to play so they just come down and have fun.鈥澛

Jakubiec said they initially estimated to see 1600 people through the gates at Logan Green that day, but he said they appeared to exceed that expectation.聽

聽The soccer day was a wrap up for the community soccer season. It ran all day long and was full of kids from the U4 division, up to the U14 division.聽

Along with soccer, there were also barbecues, concessions, raffle draws and 50/50 draws, so everyone was a winner.
