“The agreement also includes clarification to the grievance process, fitness for duty as well as improvements to scheduling for planned absences, training and overtime provisions,” explained Gord Kennedy, Director of Human Resources with the city during a presentation to the regular meeting of Yorkton Council.
The included wage increases are:
* Jan. 1, 2022 – 2.00 per cent
* Jan. 1, 2023 – 2.25 per cent
* Jan. 1, 2024 – 3.50 per cent
* Jan. 1, 2025 – 3.75 per cent
Kennedy said the new contract has taken more than a year to achieve.
“Through 14 bargaining sessions, beginning in January of 2022, negotiations with the Yorkton Professional Fire Fighters Association came to completion on July 11,” he said. “Council was presented with updates throughout the process and provided direction to the negotiating team in order to achieve the agreement.”
Council was unanimous in approving the new contract.
