Volunteers Prep Cemetery for Ceremony

Veterans' memorial event this Saturday

A group of helpful volunteers gave their time on Monday, June 19 to paint over 100 crosses out at the Outlook Cemetery in time for this Saturday morning’s memorial ceremony by the Royal Canadian Legion.

Marlene Holmes, Shirley Utigaard, Leo Whyte, Marilyn Harilstad, Keith Johnson, Lois Zarubiak, Helen Reynolds, Linda Derdall, and Maureen Applin started work at around 10:00 in the morning, painting 105 crosses for the event this weekend.  As well, they also touched up the gate posts and sign.

The memorial event will include markers being placed by the graves of Outlook veterans and RCMP officers, and feature a special fly-by from the 15 Wing Moose Jaw.

The ceremony will complete the Legion’s project to place dignified memorial markers at the graves of over 120 Canadian veterans in eight district cemeteries.
