Town council deals with sidewalk concerns

Sidewalks were among the concerns of town council at its regular meeting of July 11.

Sidewalks were among the concerns of town council at its regular meeting of July 11.

Council instructed its public works department to proceed with the paining of two crosswalks on Nykolaishen Drive, one from the CN property to the Woodlander Hotel and the other from the CN property to Lam’s Restaurant.

It was agreed to amend council’s 2016 sidewalk and curb plan by eliminating the removal of the sidewalk behind the Co-op gas station and amending it to repairing the curb and back lane area.

Council decided to have a letter written to the Sunrise Health Region, putting forth a suggestion that a sidewalk be constructed from Dixon Avenue, across from the front doors of the medical clinic, to adjoin the existing sidewalk at the Kamsack Hospital.

A grant of $1,893, representing 75 per cent of the 2016 municipal tax levy for the Ukrainian Catholic Hall, was approved.

A donation of $500 to the Kamsack and District Indoor Rodeo Association was approved.
