PREECEVILLE - The Town of Preeceville saw the new town council members taking their Oath to Office at their first meeting held at council chambers in the town administrative building on Nov. 27. Members of the new council are Stacey Strykowski, Ashley Ward, Jared Stefanyshyn, Meaghan Nelson, Kenton Hull and Taylor Sliva. Darin Newton is the new mayor, and Lorelei Karcha is the town administrator.

Darin Newton, who was elected as the new mayor for the Town of Preeceville is not new to council as he had previously sat on council for 10 years but the mayor position is a new era for him.

“I am excited to be part of a new younger council and have high hopes for the community,” Newton quoted. “Working together as a whole council, we can benefit everyone and we need to remember that we need to put people first. Some of the things that need addressing is the Preeceville Arena’s roof that was previously done but not done correctly as hence the same problems remain. Our top priority as council will be the water treatment plant. Providing fresh water is a essential necessity for everyone. While priorities change through the year we will focus on each as they come up and look forward to building a stronger, healthier and promising community,” said Newton.
