Village meeting

Congratulations to Sophie, daughter of Lindsay and Bill Ackroyd, on her graduation from Parkland Community College. She received an Early Childhood Education Orientation Certificate.

Congratulations to Sophie, daughter of Lindsay and Bill Ackroyd, on her graduation from Parkland Community College. She received an Early Childhood Education Orientation Certificate. Also graduating was Scott Simle, grandson of Len and Gladys Simle, who received his Heavy Equipment Operator Applied Certificate.

The annual ratepayer's meeting was held for the village taxpayers on Thurs., Jun 17 at the Hut. Fifteen people were in attendance and took part for group discussions. Currently, the village office is open Wednesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Sharon Clark motored to Saskatoon to attend the grade 8 graduation ceremonies of granddaughter, Desiree Clark, on June 17.She also visited with son, Stacey, and his family at Clavet.

Margie and Ed Oldham were at coffee row on Tues., June 15 and again the following Saturday. They spent time at Madge Lake in the interim.

Two separate 75th birthday celebrations were held this week. Ervin Johnson traveled to Benito, Manitoba on the weekend to help his friend, Vera Madison, celebrate her birthday. Her children honored her with a special supper party. There was Ukrainian music.Darlene (England) Stevenson of Stockholm treated 19 coffee drinkers to a free cup as well as delicious birthday cake at the regular, June 22, Tuesday morning coffee row at the Hut to mark her special birthday. Lois and Al Schick, now living in Sedley, also dropped by coffee row to renew acquaintances. They were in Dubuc doing yard work at their former residence.

The Prairie Manor Housing Authority Board met at the home of Diane Horachek for their annual meeting.They enjoyed a luncheon together in her new gazebo before attending to business. Jim and Vivian Talbot attended the Farm Progress Show while in Regina for a medical appointment.Vivian visited with both her cousin, Laurein Johnson, and a former neighbour, Ruth Venaas, who reside in the Parkside Extendicare Nursing Home. They also took in the spa at Moose Jaw while visiting with aunt, Agnes, widow of Ralph Talbot.

Also at the spa celebrating 22 years of marriage were Bernadine (Dutchek) and Wayne Kaczur.Happy anniversary wishes from the community.

Audrey and Peter Neilsen were Regina city visitors on June 23, also visiting with sister, Laurein, and Ruth and having lunch as guests of Margie and Ed Oldham.

Stockholm United Church held their final service on June 20. Bob Davies, Glenda Bell, Jessie Stokes, Mary Nagy and Mary Forsberg attended to represent the former Dubuc United Church congregation. Rev. Susan Griffith and daughter, Lindsay, led the congregation with word and music. Stu and Darlene Stevenson hosted a lovely lunch for everyone following the service of worship.

Joan Wilson traveled to Balcarres to attend the fundraising tea held at the Balcarres Care Home.Joan and her sister, Pat Todd, of Lipton accompanied their mom, Cis Earl, who is a resident there.
