Jim and Phyllis McCallum were recently in Vancouver to attend memorial service of brothers Fred and Ernie. While the McCallum's were in Vancouver, they were able to visit with Phyllis' three sisters and many nieces and nephews and their families.

The last weekend of June, Jim and Phyllis McCallum were in Weyburn to attend their grandson Mitchell's graduation. He is the son of Heidi and Trent McCallum. Mitchell is enrolled in Engineering at the University of Saskatchewan this coming year.

Saltcoats United Church worship services for the month of July will be at 9:00 a.m. as well as at that for August 1 and 8. The worship time for August 15 will be at 11:30 a.m. The 5th Sunday in August, the 29th, worship time will be 10:00 a.m. and it is in Bredenbury. A very sincere thanks is extended to the Mennonite youth who trimmed the hedge, cut grass and cleaned the Castleton United Church. This kind gesture is very much appreciated. The young people enjoyed refreshments and a social; time with Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Penner after the cleaning bee.

Glen and Helen McLeod of Burlington, Donna Fitzpatrick of Brantford, Ontario and Grace MacDonald of B.C. were recent visitors with Norma Bruce. There was a family gathering at Cherrydale golf course so all local family could meet together.

All are welcome to meet with Lichfield, England visitors Rev Peter (he's chaplain to Bishop of Lichfield) and Helen Walley on Wednesday, July 7 in lower hall of Saltcoats Anglican church at 6:00 p.m. for pot blessing supper.

After the meal a workshop will be presented by the couple. He will lead "Mission Action Plan" session and her association is with the Acorn Christian Foundation and theme will be "Healing Prayer". The evening closes with a prayer and praise service. There is awareness that all may not read this before the event takes place.

Saltcoats residents once again witnessed a great fire works display even if the weather caused it to be the evening of July 3rd. For those who are rating one year vs. the next - the volunteer fire department are to be commended for making awesome bursts in the night sky with whatever supply the donations allow. Great Job. Special thanks to all who made donations for this event.

Canada Day at Saltcoats Regional Park was a great family day. The fire engine ride lineup was second only to the one at the concession booth for Sharon's overabundant burger. The games on the diamonds, the toddlers in the playground, cake and candy floss for all as well as water activities for kids of all ages made for a great day. If none of this was not an event of choice, there was even a rummage/garage sale. Good time was had by all.

Saltcoats Anglican church has a few announcements for up coming events that you may want to add to the calendar. Sunday, August 22 will have the New Summer Parish worship in Llewelyn Anglican church at 3 p.m. with a cold pot blessing picnic lunch to follow. The service for the whole Pelly Deanery will be Sunday, August 29 in Esterhazy at 11:00 a.m. followed by pot blessing lunch. The guest for this worship is the district representative of the Canadian Bible Society. There is an exciting workshop planned for Saturday, September 18 in Yorkton Anglican church from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. This is run by Len Bachin of the Bible Society and is a fun run through Bible history.

The cost is free unless you'd like to have the $15.00 workshop handbook.
