Local dance club busy

April was a very busy month for the Calder Yalenka Dance Club. The club went to a few competitions and in between we had our Spring Concert. The Community Hall was full of families, friends and community members and surrounding area.

April was a very busy month for the Calder Yalenka Dance Club. The club went to a few competitions and in between we had our Spring Concert. The Community Hall was full of families, friends and community members and surrounding area. The dancers did a wonderful job on their dances.

The Club thanked everyone for coming out and enjoying the show, buying raffle tickets, dessert auction and to Debbie Haas, our M.C for the day.

The Club also thanked everyone for supporting us through the years.

A very big Thank you goes out to Jason Sliva. He is a very good dance instructor. The Senior girls respect Jason as a friend and as a instructor and it shows in the dances that he has taught them. We will see you in the fall, Jason.

The Calder Yalenka Dance Club took part in the Kalyna Dance Festival on April 30, May 1, and May 2. The dancers did a great job.

Sympathy goes out to Lorraine Korbet and families on the recent passing of Mervin Korbet. Mervin was councillor in Calder for the last few years. He will be missed by all of us. May God be with you and your families at this time.

The Calder Karate Club received some new belts. Kaitlin Kochanowski received her green belt, Jaylynn Molnar received her green belt, Taylor Walker received her orange belt and Renee Walker received her orange belt. Congratulations, great job.

The Calder Seniors held their Whist Drive on May 8 at the Calder Good Neighbour Centre. The winners were 1st, Donna Fustey, 2nd Mildred Danylko, 3rd James Fustey, low Arnold Balabuk. The Pot of Gold winners were Gordon Kahut and Margie Mankish.

Get well wishes to Virginia Wandy, who is a patient at the Yorkton Hospital.

Don Kahut from Calgary is out visiting with family and friends.

The Calder Peewee baseball team has started up in Calder. The team travelled to Melville on May 12. The Calder team lost against Melville but they had a great time.

The first home game was on May 20. The team played against Melville again but Melville won the game. Next home game is on May 27 at the sports ground starting at 6:30 p.m.

The Calder 100th Birthday Celebration is being planned for next year. The committee will be meeting on June 15, at the Calder Hall. Anyone wishing to help with the celebration are welcome to attend.
