Heavy rains last Thursday caused extensive flooding of homes and businesses in Yorkton, including the Dairy Queen on Broadway Street. The amount of rain falling on the city was massive.
One inch of rain on an acre of land generates 22,687 gallons of water according to Saskatchewan Agriculture. There are 6,570 acres within city limits according to information provided by City Hall. With six inches of rain falling, the total on the city was 894,321,540 gallons of water.
