If you heard a collective beat drumming from somewhere in town last Sunday afternoon, it may have been coming from the gymnasium at Outlook High School as the Outlook School of Dance program performed their annual year-end recital.
With a total of 41 students taking part in the program this year, the recital featured many talented dancers who worked their bodies to the beat in front of a packed house on Sunday, April 23, moving either with flowing grace or with a bit of a hip-hop kick, featuring a multitude of different dance types and musical styles.
A total of 25 performances entertained the audience, including some fun group dances such as Ava Berquist, Casey Haugen and Alexis Currie's number that showcased their Intermediate Hip-Hop skills, as well as some eye-catching solo numbers such as Kalli Gowen's graceful Lyrical Solo dance. Other numbers gave younger kids a chance to play dress-up and perform, such as Annabelle Giraudier, Kayson Friesen, Jossalyn Ziegler and Anastasia Okhrimenko's Junior Tap dance set to 'California Girls'.
The recital is the program's year-end event that showcases what the students have been working hard at all year. Based on the enthusiastic applause from those in attendance, their work has come to pay off.
