CANORA - One of the highlights of the Live & Play Street festival on Aug. 19 was the Canora Cruisers Carl Club Car Show. Close to 100 classic cars, trucks and motorbikes were lined up along Main Street, with some even spilling over on to Fifth Avenue West.
Canora was well represented, but there were also vehicles displayed from Pelly, Coronach, Esterhazy, Muenster, Yorkton, and even Swan River, Man. Out of town exhibitors raved about the show and the excellent job of organizing by members of the Canora Cruisers Car Club.
It was easy for those in attendance to spend the better part of the day admiring the vehicles on display, after which they were encourage to submit their votes for favourite car, truck and motorcycle.
The unique trophies for the winners were created by Cruisers members David Wasyliw and Iona Hleboff, taking over from Gene Keyowski who had previously made the trophies for many car shows.
Kevin Ludba of Canora won first place in the trucks category for his 1953 F100 Ford, which has had the same new-looking paint job since 1997. Second place went to Wayne McKay and his 1954 GMC truck.
In the car section of the competition, Barry and Deb Coles of Yorkton and their 1968 Olds 442 received the most votes. Second place went to Harvey Litvanyi, also of Yorkton, for his 1961 Studebaker Silver Hawk. Representing Canora, Darrell Kobelka came in third with his 1967 Pontiac GTO.
In the bikes competition, the winning entry was a 1911 Harley-Davidson owned by Anton Medernach of Yorkton.
