The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 18 calls from April 21 to April 27, some of which included: one traffic accident, two traffic offences, two other provincial statutes, one other criminal code, one family order, one criminal harassment, one assault, one theft over $5,000, one possession of stolen property, one fraud, one missing person, and five other occurrences.
911 false alarm
On April 22, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a 911 hang-up from the Canora Hospital. It was determined there was no emergency.
Dead moose
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP received an inquiry on April 22 about how to dispose of a dead moose on the complainants’ property. Police provided advice as requested.
Deer collision
A vehicle hit a deer while driving on Highway 9 south of Canora on April 22. No injuries were reported.
Mystery caller
On April 23, a female called the Canora/Sturgis RCMP stating that her car was stuck in Canora and required assistance. The female would not give her name and the licence plate number she provided was fake. Police made a patrol but the vehicle was gone.
Manitoban missing
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a request on April 25 to locate a missing person from Manitoba who was believed to be in Canora. Police determined the missing person was never in the area
Happy ending
A teenager was reported missing to the Canora/Sturgis RCMP on April 26. Police learned that the teenager was with family and was not missing.
