If we have learned one thing over the past 6 months, it鈥檚 that having the ability to stay connected鈥攖hanks to a fast and reliable Internet connection鈥攊s a necessity.

Xplornet is at the forefront of that for customers in rural Saskatchewan, who rely on access to the Internet to keep them working, learning and being able to see and talk to friends and family from the safety of their own home.

鈥淭he pandemic has highlighted the importance of having a strong and reliable Internet connection; we have seen so many customers returning to their homes in rural locations to work, with their children doing remote learning,鈥 says Rhonda Adair, Xplornet鈥檚 district manager for Saskatchewan.

鈥淪uddenly, they all need those faster, more convenient download connections to support video streams for business meetings, school classes, and entertainment.鈥

Providing that connectivity has been Xplornet鈥檚 mandate as they have continually improved their infrastructure to serve customers in remote areas across the country, such as the latest tower that went into service recently in Broderick.

鈥淴plornet believes everyone should have access to the online world, no matter how remotely you live,鈥 Adair says. 鈥淲e are working to continuously improve and grow our network.

鈥淭hat鈥檚 our focus.鈥

鈥淚n Saskatchewan we are offering speeds up to 50 megabits per second, which for customers allows them to host video meetings, and other applications that require that type of fast connection. Meanwhile, their kids can be watching Netflix鈩⒙or other streaming services, and also have their computers running other programs that use the Internet.鈥

Relying on the Internet has become a vital part of everyday life, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic that forced people to remain at home yet remain in touch.

鈥淚n the fast-paced world we live in, people use the Internet to do their grocery shopping, they are hooked up to security cameras around their home,鈥 says Adair. 鈥淯se of the Internet is so prevalent that where you used to see one to two devices in your home hooked up to Wi-Fi, the average today in a house is around eight because you have tablets and cellphones, smart TVs, printers, and laptops, all requiring access.鈥

And just as important as access and speed is, so is the convenience of not being restricted by data usage or caps.

鈥淲hen it鈥檚 vital to keep families connected through video chats and social media, and critical to keep those business meetings going, so you don鈥檛 want to be hampered by any limits,鈥 Adair says.
