Youths charged with attempted murder following assault in Regina

Police attended and located the victims, who both had injuries consistent with knife wounds.

REGINA - Five youths have been charged following a weapons complaint in Regina.

On March 3 at approximately 6:20 p.m., police were dispatched to the 2900 block of Gordon Road for the report of a weapons offence. Information received indicated that two individuals were assaulted with a bladed weapon before the assailants fled the scene.

Police attended and located the victims, who both had injuries consistent with knife wounds. They were transported to hospital by EMS with serious, but non-life threatening injuries. A witness to the incident provided suspect descriptions.

A short time later, police located five individuals who matched the descriptions.

On March 4, police located the sixth and final suspect.

As a result of this investigation, one 16-year-old youth, two 15-year-old youths, and two 14-year-old youths, who cannot be named in keeping with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, are jointly charged with: attempted murder x2.

One of the 14-year-old youths is also charged with: failure to comply with disposition.

The 16-year-old youth is also charged with: failure to comply with disposition x2; and failure to comply with conditions of release order x3.

The accused individuals made their first appearances on these charges in Youth Provincial Court on March 4 at 2 p.m.
