REGINA - The Regina Fire & Protective Services is urging residents to stay off the ice and all bodies of water during the winter.
These bodies of water include Wascana Lake and Creek, storm channels and retention ponds.
Regina Fire & Protective Services noted that while walking on ice may look safe, it is not.
Residents are asked not to attempt to walk, skate, ski, bike or play on any body of water. Parents with kids are asked to advise their children to stay clear of the ice. Additionally, dogs should be kept on a leash when walking close to a body of water.
In the event a child walks too close to the ice or a dog falls through into a body of water, the Regina Fire & Protective Services is asking residents to call 9-1-1 and wait for help to arrive.
