Update: Regina police lay murder charge in King Street death

This is the fourth homicide in Regina in 2024.

The Regina Police Service Major Crime Unit and the Regina Police Service Forensic Identification Unit have been called in.

REGINA - A Regina male is charged with homicide after a death investigation which began on Friday night.

Shortly after 10 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 23, police were dispatched to a call for service at a residence on the 1000 block of King Street. Police arrived and located EMS who informed police that a male was inside the residence. Police entered and apprehended the male.

Police also located an unresponsive adult female. EMS declared the female deceased, and a death investigation began, involving the Saskatchewan Coroners Service, RPS Major Crimes Unit, and RPS Forensic Identification Unit.

EMS also transported the male to hospital, as he had sustained injury prior to police arrival that was deemed non-life-threatening.

Investigation determined the death to be the result of homicide, and the male was charged.

Thirty-nine year-old Kristopher Kyle Soby, of Regina, is charged with second-degree murder. He will make his first appearance on this charge in Provincial Court on Monday, Aug. 26.

This is the fourth homicide in Regina in 2024.
