Swift Current Municipal RCMP have identified and charged two men in relation to both of these incidents, and warrants for their arrest have been issued.
SWIFT CURRENT - Police are looking for two men wanted relating to a serious assault that occurred.
On Oct. 25, Swift Current Municipal RCMP responded to a report of a firearm discharged during an altercation on Herbert Street in Swift Current. Officers responded and no injuries were reported to police. Swift Current RCMP continued to investigate.
On Oct. 29 at approximately 6 a.m., Swift Current Municipal RCMP responded to a report of a break and enter at a home on 10 Avenue N.W. in Swift Current. Investigation determined multiple individuals entered the residence with a firearm and assaulted two occupants inside. The firearm was not discharged. The suspects stole an amount of cash as well as a vehicle. The vehicle was recovered shortly after; however, the suspects remain at large.
Both of these incidents are not believed to be random. Swift Current Municipal RCMP have identified and charged two men in relation to both of these incidents and warrants for their arrest have been issued.
Nicholas Belanger, 35, from Medicine Hat, and 28-year-old Mathew Neufeld, from Swift Current, are each charged with: break and enter; two counts of assault causing bodily harm; theft over $5,000; theft under $5,000; and disguised with intent to commit offence.
Belanger is additionally charged with: robbery with a firearm; assault with a weapon; careless use of a firearm; pointing a firearm; possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose; dangerously discharged a firearm; and fail to comply with probation order.
Investigators have reason to believe Belanger and Neufeld may be in the Swift Current or Medicine Hat areas, but their current whereabouts are unknown.
