REGINA - The Streets of Regina and other Saskatchewan communities will be flooded with members of Pumpkin Patrol on Halloween night to ensure the safety of families and their children.
In a news release on Thursday, Access Communications Co-operative (Access) announced the safety awareness program will run for its 28th year.
The program has Access patrol staff and volunteers in nine communities around Saskatchewan, ensuring trick-or-treaters remain safe.
President & CEO of Access Carmela Haines spoke about how ready their staff will be in case of any danger towards children. “If trick or treaters see danger and need assistance, we will be in our vehicles, ready to assist by contacting law enforcement.”
Access vehicles will have orange flashing lights when an issue arises, and the organization can contact local law enforcement if needed.
The vehicles will patrol neighbourhoods from 5 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. on Halloween in the communities of Melville, La Ronge (Air Ronge), Regina, Warman, Weyburn, Yorkton, North Battleford (The Battlefords) and Estevan.
Those needing assistance can wave or contact an Access vehicle, and the volunteers inside will alert local law enforcement.
